Two precision-engineered crankshafts manufactured for electric trolley bus drivetrain application in Louisiana. This project presented a unique engineering challenge as no physical sample was provided - the entire manufacturing process was based solely on 2D blueprint specifications with extremely tight tolerances (±0.05mm).
Manufacturing custom crankshafts without any physical sample to reference. The only specification provided was a 2D technical blueprint with critical dimensions and tight tolerances. The triangular web design with multiple concentric bearing surfaces required precision CNC machining and careful quality control to ensure proper fit and function in the trolley bus drivetrain.
Our engineering team utilized advanced CAD modeling to interpret the 2D blueprint and create a complete 3D manufacturing model. Precision CNC machining centers were programmed to achieve the ±0.05mm tolerance requirements. CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) verification was performed at multiple stages to ensure all critical dimensions met specifications. The crankshafts were manufactured from high-strength alloy steel with proper heat treatment and surface finishing to meet the demanding requirements of continuous-duty transit service.
